Uncanny Updates : Book signings and Growing insanities
What's that? Did someone say book signings? with an S?!
Count me in!
That's right. Two very talented authors are coming to Manila in the upcoming months!
*hyperventilates*
I haven't read any of their works, or any books in the Chick-lit genre for that matter, but I've been hearing very great stuff from some of my "acquaintances" recently. Besides, who would let such an opportunity go?! Definitely not me.
So who exactly are these authors?
JENNY HAN! |
First is the wonderful and cheery Jenny Han. She is the author of The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy (AKA The Belly Trilogy) , and co-author of the Burn for Burn series (which I'm kinda itching for to read). Also, her latest book, To All The Boys I've Loved Before was released to the public only recently.
She will come to the Philippines on June 21-22 .

As for the second author...
STEPHANIE PERKINS!! |
Miss Stephanie Perkins is the author of Anna and the French Kiss, Lola and the Boy Next Door and the upcoming Isla and the Happily Ever After.
She will arrive at the Philippines on July 5-July 6.

Uncanny Update : Scan ARC to be given away
I was groggily surfing the internet, at a time like 11:30 PM or so, and I saw the link of the blog of a fellow Filipino on our Peculiar group. Being a "new-Blogger" myself, I checked it out, and scrolled down and down, until I saw this particular post.
I clicked through it, and little did I know, someone was giving away an ARC! I wasn't familiar with arcs back then, but now, every time I see someone do a giveaway or a review of an "advanced reading copy", AKA arc, I get excited. Those copies weren't released to the public market yet, so it was really engaging.
According to themidnightgarden, Scan is a SciFi thriller, and if you know me, I adore SciFi and Thriller literature. Put them together? Magic.
It is also co-written by Sarah Fine, and from what I've been hearing, I think she's really amazing.
The giveaway itself requires you to do some very simple rafflecopter steps, and it will be finished after 3 weeks. I wish everyone participating good luck!

Review: Ignite Me
THIS IS MY FIRST REVIEW! HURRAH FOR ME!
Wonderful author of the Shatter Me trilogy |
The Details
Title: Ignite Me
Author: Tahereh Mafi
Number of Pages: 408
Author: Tahereh Mafi
Number of Pages: 408
Date of Publishing: February 4, 2014
Publisher: HarperCollins
The Introduction
The Shatter Me trilogy has peeked my attention ever since I first saw the front of the first book, which was approximately last year. I was so intrigued by the dazzling eyes staring at me whenever I see the covers of those books (prior to the release of Ignite Me), and when I opened them, I wasn't shocked to read premises, emotions, and descriptions beyond those of the "normal" cliche kind of story, all thanks to the wonderful Tahereh Mafi (or Mrs. Riggs, if you must). So now that the series finally reached its conclusion, after a long riot of audiences screaming for more and more and more of those wonderful stories, let's all take a moment to absorb the realization. Onwards!

Uncanny Updates : I met three WONDERFUL authors!
Considering the time that has passed, this is an awfully late post.
But better late than never, right?
So, let's start from the beginning.
*Theremin music plays*
**If you don't know what that is, look it up**
A whopping six months ago, an advertisement of a famous bookstore here in the Philippines (National Book Store, for that matter) , caught my eye. It said that Ransom Riggs, Tahereh Mafi, and Veronica Rossi, three good authors, two of which I'm familiar with then, were coming to town, on April 26. I nearly FAINTED because of happiness! I simply love Ransom and Tahereh's books, and I was also excited to be exposed to a new trilogy, by Veronica Rossi. So of course, I prepared for the great Arrival (Rick Yancey fans out there, eh? eh?), buying their books and such. I even sold my old copy of Hollow City to buy a new one, just to have it signed! (rules rules rules)
A lot of other things happened in between, like inviting friends and accepting their rejection, blah blah blah (I cried)
AND THEN THE DAY CAME.
A New Beginning!
